Gerald Wiegert was just graduated from college and he started a design house named Vehicle Design Force in 1971. He founded this company with Lee Brown who was a famous auto body expert based in Hollywood. This is how the first Vector car was launched and it had DOHC Porsche engine.
The first Vector car was priced at $100,000 and it was also a cover photo of Motor Trend magazine in 1972. Lee Brown left the company in 1977 and the Gerald named the company Vector Aeromotive. The company was renamed to Vector Motors Corporation in 1993.
Vector’s car was one of the first to compete with European performance cars like Lamborghini and Ferrari. From 1990 to 1980,50 Vector car units were manufactured and sold.
The first Vector car was W8.
The most expensive Vector car was priced at $450,000.
