Sterling Trucks Corporation was a truck manufacturing company founded in 1906 and was closed in 2009. The company was first founded by William Sternberg and was named as Sternberg Motor Truck Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The founder changed its name to Sterling during the WWI and built different heavy-duty trucks for military, construction, and commercial use.
In 1951, the company was bought by White Motor Company. In October 2009, Daimler Trucks North America announced to stop the Sterling product line for good to consolidate its operations of North America truck manufacturing under the Western Star and Freightliner brands.
Sterling Trucks used Detroit Diesel, Mercedes Benz, Caterpillar, and Cummins engines.
