Sisu Auto is an automotive manufacturing company based in Finland that was started by Emil Anton Winckelmann and Karl Arthur Nordgren in 1931. The company was founded in Helsinki and it is now headquartered in Raseborg. Sisu is a subsidiary of Sisu Defense which is also an automotive manufacturing company that produces high-mobility tactical military-grade vehicles.
The company was first known as Oy Suomen Autoteollisuus Ab (SAT); this company was a joint venture between Autoteollisuus-Bilindustri and Autokoritehadas. As both companies were facing financial issues, the financing banks suggested the joint venture. Right after the birth of this venture, the company made did a good business in the country and the name Sisu was suggested by both parties in 1932.
