Saleen is also known as Saleen Automotive Inc. The company was founded in 1983 by Steve Saleen. It was launched as Saleen Autosport and in the early 1990s, it changed its name to Saleen. The company is headquartered in Corona, California, USA.

Steve was a pro-Formula Atlantic race car driver and after a year of the launched 3 cars; black hatchback, copper-glow hatchback, and white hatchback. The company launched its flagship car in 2000 which was the Saleen S7. This car was completely built by the founder and it was a high-performance car having a mid-engine design.

Saleen introduced the Saleen S7 which featured a fully carbon fiber body and was also street-legal car.
