1950
In 1950, the designer changed the color of the 1948 lion to gold-yellow and placed it on a rectangle of dark blue background. There is also an ornate frame of silver color outside the rectangle. There are no letters in this logo either.
1948
In 1948, the company used the new lion style as its logo. This Lion has sharp paws and is in an upward position, with only one leg touching the ground. The Lion is black. It feels like a lion jumping on something. The tail of this Lion is also different from the tail of the Lion of other logos
1936
In 1936, the company changed the logo’s color palette from red to yellow. And they changed the color of the Lion from golden to blue. This time, the company used the early years lion inside the shield standing above the arrow. The lower side of the shield has a pattern of vertical blue lines and space between them. The look of the company’s logo was different from the earlier versions.
1927
In 1927, the company eliminated the circle with a lion and wordmark above a shield. This time, all the letters of the wordmark are joined together and in golden color instead of white, which is also the color of a lion. The vertical lines of the rectangle are now in the form of a slope.
1925
There are three significant changes in this logo. This time, the Lion is not in the 3D version, and its color is golden. On top of this, black-colored finish makes it look like a real lion. The word “PEUGEOT” is written in white above the black rectangle in this logo. All Wordmark letters are capital sans-serif. This is the first time the company has included wordmarks in its logo. Both Lion and wordmark are above the circle of chili red color.
1910
The company’s new logo focuses more on the Lion, with the Lion on top of a stone, roaring. The roaring Lion looks real. The stone is like a slide, and the Lion’s left paw is raised from the stone, while the right paw is above the stone and has an arrow on it. The color of the Lion is silver, and it looks 3D due to its light shades.
1905
In 1905, the company replaced the previous version of the logo above the coat of arms. The center part of the coat of arms resembles a tire. Peugeot is written in the upper part of this coat of arms, while Paris is written in the lower part, and both of them have an inverted P with the face on the left side. A flower is made on the upper and lower parts, but both differ.
1889
In 1889, the company built its first three-wheeled car that ran on steam. Along with this, the company refined its logo. The earlier Lion was more muscular, but the Lion in this logo is less muscular, and the tail is also a bit unique. A jeweler designed this logo, and later, the company placed the same logo on the coat of arms.
1858
In 1858, the company only darkened the logo. Apart from this, there was no other change, and there were no company letters, etc. The company registered the Lion as its trademark in 1858.
1810
In 1810, when the company made steel products like springs, umbrella whales, corset frames, coffee mills, watch pieces, etc., it still used the Lion in its logo. This was the era when the company did not manufacture vehicles. A lion above the arrow represents the quality and durability of the company’s products.
The Peugeot Company began its operations in 1810 as a family business. Initially, this company made steel products like saws and tools. Peugeot applied for the lion trademark on 20 November 1858. The company’s first car was a steam tricycle built by Armand Peugeot.
The company started its business in Sochaux and still has its large manufacturing plant and museum. In the 1900s, the company also began to succeed in racing, winning the 1912 French Grand Prix and 1913 Indianapolis 500 events. During this period, the company was famous for using a 7.6-liter four-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder in its vehicles.
The Peugeot company saw both world wars. After World War 1, the company continued its car production and won the Targa Florio and Coppa Florio racing events. However, Peugeot started production of military vehicles and arms during World War II.
The company began manufacturing civilian vehicles in 1946 and produced the first vehicle after World War 2, the Peugeot 202. Apart from this, Peugeot also purchased Chenard-Walcker and Hotchkiss and thus expanded its automotive further. The company introduced popular models like the Peugeot 203 and 403, achieving significant sales records.
In 1958, Peugeot began selling cars in the United States and introduced the Peugeot 404 in 1960. By the end of its production run, one million copies of the Peugeot 403 had been sold.
Peugeot started making hybrid and electric cars a long time ago. They introduced the hybrid electric sports sedan, Peugeot RC HYmotion4, at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. In 2009, the electric concept car Peugeot BB1, equipped with in-wheel motors, was showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Peugeot plans to provide electrified options in all its models by 2025. They aim to start selling all-electric vehicles in Peugeot Europe by 2030.
Peugeot company also manufactures motorcycles. Peugeot Motorcycles is a major producer of European scooters, underbones, mopeds, and bicycles. The company started producing bicycles in 1882 in Beaulieu, France, and has a strong cycling heritage with numerous Tour de France wins.
