Paccar is also known as Paccar Inc. It was founded in 1905 by William Pigott and its headquarters is in Washington, USA. Its current CEO is Preston Feight and its Chairman is Mark C. Pigott. The company excels in information technology, financial services, powertrains, engines, automotive, and heavy equipment.
The company was first called the Seattle Car Manufacturing Company and it first used to deal in logging and railway equipment. The company merged with Twohy Brothers and it was rebranded as Pacific Car and Foundry Company. The company started to deal to oxen and horse drawn logging trucks, refrigerated boxcars, open cars, air brakes, and steel.
The company was sold by the founder to American Car and Foundry Company in 1924 and his son bought back most of its shares in 1934. The company crashed during The Great Depression but it rose back when it received government contracts for steel.
Some of the Paccar engines are designed by the company itself and some are designed by Cummins.
