Meaning:

The Nissan logo represents innovation and the company’s connection to Japan. The word Nissan is also written in the middle of the circle, which shows the stability of the company. The curved lines above and below the word show the Rising Sun, meaning that Japan is the Land of the Rising Sun. This circle is not complete which means the company is making progress in the automotive industry.

The old Nissan logo was three-dimensional and shiny, like a silver badge you’d see on a car. The new logo is much simpler. The word “Nissan” is written horizontally. There’s a thin, curved black line above the word and another below it, almost like smiles. These curved lines don’t quite meet to form a full circle. Instead, they are cut short with straight ends, giving the logo a clean and modern look.

The new logo is different from previous one primarily in its color scheme. The previously dark silver has been replaced with a lighter shade. Additionally, the design incorporates a lighting effect. This combination creates the illusion of the logo being composed of two separate, stacked elements. The lighter silver leaves a slight gap between these perceived layers, resulting in a somewhat hollow appearance.

The previous logo has been transformed into a 3D design with a silver rectangle and surrounding semicircles. The semicircles are aligned to form a ring-like effect. Dark shading on the upper semicircle’s lower-right side and the lower semicircle’s upper-right side adds depth and visual interest.

Nissan’s logo saw a small yet major change in 1998. Designer reduced the black part in the logo and gave it a simple look.

In 1992, Nissan’s logo moved to simplicity. The well-known rectangle and ring were both defined by strong black lines that merged together nicely. Against a clean white background, the “Nissan” name was displayed in the same bold black font. This clean, uncluttered style was a powerful sign of Nissan’s changing corporate identity since it provided a feel of comfort and dedication.

The “Nissan” name is shown again in bold black against a matte silver rectangle. Two semicircles, at the top and bottom, framed this rectangle in a distinctive way.

In 1989, Nissan removed the badge from logo, leaving only wordmark in black color, giving a sense of quality.

A sleek, dark gray rectangle with rounded corners and black outline is placed on a large silver circle. The word “Nissan” is in white hue with dynamic black shadows which provides a sense of depth. These metallic textures and bold shapes conveyed a confident, sophisticated, and unforgettable brand image.
