Melkus was previously known as Melkus Sportswagen GmbH and Heinz Melkus KG. The company was started in 1959 by Heinz Melkus. The company was closed in 2012. Melkus manufactured single-seated sports and racing cars. Its headquarters was in Dresden. Heinz was a race driver himself. The company started in 1959 and was first closed in 1986, it was again revived in 2009 and was finally closed in 2012.
