The four letters in the Lotus logo represent the initials of Anthony Colin Bruce Chapman, the founder of the ACBC company. In 2019, the Lotus logo became simple and minimal. The background of the Lotus-like triangle was changed to dark green, and the outline of the yellow circle was removed. This time, the Lotus letters are in a straight line in sans serif font, which is a different approach from the previous versions of the logo. Apart from this, the fonts are yellow, which looks as if the letters have been engraved by cutting the dark green color.

In 2010, a redesign of the Lotus logo was introduced, giving it a bright and modern look. Silver details are enhanced with gradients and glossy effects, with delicate shadows added to frames and letters. While the overall composition and color palette remained consistent, the yellow hue of the badge was slightly lightened. This redesign gave the logo a three-dimensional appearance. To achieve this effect, the designer made the gray color dark and light in some places and also made the yellow color dark from the corners. The outline of the lotus flower-like triangle is silver. Lotus letters, this time in a serif font, are separate from each other and do not overlap. Although the primary composition is the same as the previous version, the new design has a more modern aesthetic, resembling a sleek emblem on the back of the car.

The company started using this logo in 1989. In this logo, the company has switched the color palette of the font from golden to white. In addition, a lotus flower-like triangle, which has a wordmark inside, has been placed on top of the yellow circle. The outline of the triangle is also white, and the outline of the yellow circle is silver.

The company was formed in 1952 as Lotus Engineering Ltd. by engineers Colin Chapman and Colin Dare. The company had early origins in 1948 when Chapman built his first racing car in a garage. By 1980, Group Lotus was in severe financial trouble, with limited production and sales in the key United States market. Chapman’s agreement with Toyota and the new American company, Lotus Performance Cars Inc. (LPCI), provided fresh capital to the Group Lotus. Notable Lotus cars include the Lotus Seven, the Elan, the Esprit, and the Elise.

In 2021, Lotus announced plans to produce only electric cars by 2028 and increase production numbers significantly. Geely and Etika Automotive provided two billion pounds to fund these changes. UK Technology Strategy Board awarded $45M to 16 low-carbon vehicle projects, including those involving Lotus. It introduced the Evija, a 2000-horsepower electric hypercar. Evora 414E Hybrid is among Lotus’ endeavors in the hybrid segment.
