Toyota launched Project F1 in 1983 to compete with luxury brands Acura and Infiniti. Acura and Infiniti were luxury brands of Honda and Nissan respectively.  

The F1 project was completed in 1989 with the launch of Lexus LS 400. Lexus LS 400 got good reviews from customers which helped to gain reputation. 

With high quality, great performance, good customer support, and extreme luxury, Lexus quickly established itself in the market. Lexus’ mission has always been to provide a great driving experience and create vehicles with advanced features and great design. Lexus vehicles are widely known for their design, comfort, safety and reliability.

Because of these things, Lexus has also won many awards such as J.D. Power Dependability Awards.

From 1989 to 2005, all Lexus vehicles were manufactured in Toyota plants. From 2002 to 2005, there was a major reorganization within Lexus and after that, Lexus started making its own vehicles and became a separate brand.

In the beginning, Lexus was called Alexis. But it soon changed from Alexis to Lexus meaning Luxury and technology-focused.

Lexus manufactures a variety of vehicles including sedans, SUVs, and hybrid vehicles. Lexus’ hybrid models such as the RX Hybrid and ES Hybrid are very popular.

Famous models of Lexus are Lexus RX 400h/RX 450h, Lexus CT 200h, Lexus ES, Lexus LS and Lexus RX.

Lexus engineers partnered with Yamaha (experts in musical instruments) to fine-tune the sound of the LFA supercar’s engine. They wanted to ensure a thrilling and satisfying engine note.
