KTM is a motorsports, bicycle, and motorcycle manufacturing company based in Austria. The company was manufactured by Hans Trunkenpolz in 1934 and its headquarters is in Mattighofen, Austria. The company is co-owned by Pierer Mobility AG and Bajaj Auto. The founder first opened a shop of repair and fitting. In the same year, he started selling Opel and DKW cars and his shop was named as “Kraftfahrzeug Trunkenpolz Mattighofen”.
During the WWII, the founder’s business was becoming successful everyday due to diesel engine repairs. After the war, Hans was worried since there were few customers for repairing engines and this is when he thought about making his own motorcycle. And the first motorcycle prototype was launched in 1951 named as R100. The company was joined by Ernst Kronreif in 1953 and became the biggest shareholder of the company. Due to this the company was named Ernst Kronreif & Trunkenpolz Mattighofen.
The slogan of KTM is “Ready to Race”.
KTM vehicles are designed by KISKA.
The KTM’s first motorcycle was named KTM R100.
