It was founded in 1902 by George Wallbridge Perkins, Cyrus Hall McCormick Jr, and Charles Deering.
The company was headquartered in Illinois, USA but was closed in 1985. International Harvester can be rooted back to the 1830s when the founder Cyrus wanted to bring advancement in the horse-drawn reaper. With his brother McCormick, he moved to Chicago and launched McCormick Harvesting Machine Company.
After McCormick’s death, the company was dealt by his son McCormick Jr. and in 1902, it merged with 4 companies; Warder, Bushnell, Glessner – manufacturer of the Champion brand, Piano Manufacturing Co, Milwaukee Harvesting Machine Co, and Deering Havester Company. This merger resulted in International Harvester Company.
Due to advancement in the harvesting trucks and especially industry, the company couldn’t keep up with the competition and was sold to Navistar International.
