Daewoo Group was an automobile manufacturer based in South Korea that was founded in 1967 and was defunct in 1999. It was founded in Kim Woo-Choong and its headquarters was Seoul, South Korea. Daewoo was considered the second-largest conglomerate in South Korea after Hyundai Group. The founder was the son of the Provincial Governor of Daegu.
The company was launched to promote development and growth in the country. Daewoo was sponsored by government loan and it was the only company that provided a lot of jobs. The government also forced the company to launch shipbuilding and Daewoo soon got famous for manufacturing affordable oil rigs and ships.
The first car of Daewoo was Lanos.
Daewoo is now known as GM Korea as it was acquired by General Motors in 2011.
