The Cole Motor Car Company was an automobile manufacturer based in America. The company was founded by Joseph J. Cole in 1909 and was defunct in 1925. Its headquarters was in Indiana, USA and the founder first tried to make a car in 1903. Cole and his son had a shop where they sold lawn mowers, motor bikes, automobiles, and wheels.
The duo tried to make a 4-cylinder touring car but the project didn’t work and they opened a Rambler dealership business. The founder bought Gates-Osborne Carriage Company in 1904 and renamed it to Cole Carriage Company. After this acquisition, the company built its first car featuring 2-cylinder engine and high-wheeled motor buggy.
Some legends say that in his first car, he forgot to install brakes and had to drive slowly until the fuel tank was emptied. The company was renamed to Cole Motor Car Company in 1909 when he launched the official Cole Model 30. The company was closed due to severe recession.
The slogan of Cole was “There’s a Touch of Tomorrow in All that Cole Does Today”.
