Back in 2019, company introduced the new 8th generation of Corvette cars and redesigned the logo one more time. In this logo version, the flags are readjusted to bring more V Shape feel into the logo. Logo designers contour the V-Notch at the bottom of crossed flags. So, the flags become closer to each other enhancing the V Shaped appearance of the emblem. In the previous logo design the word “Corvette” was featured in a joint pattern. However, in this logo iteration the letters are separated. Consequently, the word “Corvette” is more distinct and easily readable. Color palette remained same with only a difference that colors are made light to bring a modern and fresh feel for the logo. The upper parts of the emblem are made sharper to bring the feel of sleek and refinement to the logo. This C8 logo was termed as “butterfly” logo and was leaked In 2019 before company started its use officially.

Company introduced the seventh generation of the sports car and logo underwent a drastic change. So, entirely different logo was introduced in 2014. The crossed flags are re-positioned into an entirely different V-Shape arrangement. By introducing this iteration, company successfully incorporated the V shape concept that is associated with the Corvette cars due to V8 Engines. The font style of the lettering remains same but the color of the letters is changed to silver. This new metallic feel of the lettering gave an intense and stronger feel to the logo design. Furthermore, the flag part of the logo incorporates the metallic outline with shading. Owing to this modification, a metallic and 3-Dimensional appearance was brought for the logo. Again in 2004 the logo was redesigned and comparatively minimalistic and neat design in introduced. This new design does not feature the circular shape resulting in more solid and compact look and feel of the logo. In addition to these changes, the lines of the crossed flags are also shortened in order to achieve the more compact feel. Back in 1997, company introduced the C5 Corvette model and logo underwent a drastic change once again. This iteration of the logo made the visual identity of the company more classic and traditional emblem. This new logo incorporates the flags again but the positions of flags are switched. The checkered monochrome flag is placed on the left side while the emblem flag is placed on the right side. This new logo design featured the traditional flags of the logo design again. So, by introducing these two flags again, the logo design legacy is retained successfully.

Back in 1982, company redesigned the logo entirely and a very different logo rolled out. This new emblem featured a circle that is intersected by a long rectangle. There is total two sections of this long rectangle, one in black and white while the second part featured the Chevrolet emblem. The left part of the rectangle incorporates the checkered pattern of racing flag to represent the model’s association with racing and speed. While the right side of the rectangle incorporates the Chevrolet emblem against a solid red background. This new logo design is entirely different from the old corvette logo design. Company launched third model of the sports car in 1968. So, many drastic changes are made in Corvette Logo design. Company introduced a new car model “StingRay” in 1963. So, in order to reflect the new model into logo, the original corvette logo was significantly modified. The lower part of the emblem featured the word “Sting Ray” in white color against black color within a rectangular shape block. The word “Corvette” is taken from the Naval World. The term “CORVETTE” originally was used for small, easily maneuverable warships in the 17th and 18th centuries by European Naval Forces. Primarily, these ships were used for patrolling purposes because of their agile, fast and maneuverable design. During the design phase of this remarkable car back in the 1950s, the company was searching for a unique name that reflected the unique properties and features of the iconic car. The name should reflect agility, speed, performance, and maneuverability. During this process, an assistant director, Myron Scott, at General Motors (GM) suggested the name “Corvette” and it was picked for this new sports car.

While exploring the dictionary at home, Scott learned that the word “Corvette” is a representation of an agile and sleek vessel. So, he identified the similarities between the qualities of a naval warship and the desired features of the car being designed.
