Logo Details

Logo Designed by: Walter Owen Bentley

Meaning:

The Bentley logo, with the letter B between the wings, pays tribute to its owner, Walter Owen Bentley, and is also the first letter of the company’s name. B has wings on both sides because the owner of the company was very fond of making jets. During World War II the company stopped production of everything and worked only on engines for jets and military needs. Bentley uses different numbers of feathers in the wings on different vehicles. In addition, Bentley also uses the flying “B” logo on some of its premium vehicles. The logo is similar to Rolls-Royce’s Spirit of Ecstasy, but Rolls-Royce uses its Spirit of Ecstasy on all vehicles, while Bentley uses its Flying “B” on certain vehicles.

Many automotive companies updated their logos in 2023 and before. That same year, Bentley also adopted the “B” monogram. This “B” is what’s inside their full logo. But Bentley only uses this “B” monogram on promotional products such as the website, car gears, tires, etc., while they use their original 2002 logo on car bonnets.

In 2002, Bentley refined its logo to give it a modern look. The lines between the tails were previously thinner while the lines between the wings were thicker. The tail and wing lines are the same in the new logo. Other than that, no other changes are made to the logo.

Bentley’s first logo is similar to today’s logo. The company refined lines between feathers in 2002. The Bentley logo features a white “B” in the middle in horizontal alignment above a black oval. The oval has wings protruding from both sides and a tail on its lower side. However, there is another oval below the “B” and the tail, but only parts of it are visible due to these elements being on top. If we look deeply at “B”, it feels like a bird is watching us.
