Auburan was an automobile company founded in 1900 by Morris and Frank Eckhart. The company’s headquarters was in Indiana, USA and Auburn was closed in 1937. The company got closed after the crash of 1929 Wall Street. The company was revived as Auburn Central Manufacturing in 1940 after the merger with Central Manufacturing Company.
This company then got a lot of work during the WWII and it was again renamed to American Central Manufacturing. Before the car business, the company was known as Eckhart Carriage Company which was founded by Charles Eckhart in 1847. The founders, sons of Charles entered in the automobile business and acquired two other young automobile companies as well.
Auburn cars were designed by Gordon Burhrig and Alan Leamy.
