It is a German sports car manufacturing company which was founded in 2004 by Roland Gumpert in Bavaria. It is headquartered in Denkendorf, Germany. Apollo cars won 4 World Rally Championship and 25 World Rally Championship rallies titles. Roland had a vision to produce sports/racing cars that were fast and legal on the streets. Roland Meyer the founder of Motoren Technik Mayer and Gumpert’s colleague asked him to build a prototype sports car.
This was the year of 2001, and Gumpert was the director of Audi – Audi approved his involvement in his project. This is how Apollo started in 2004 and was registered as GMG Sportwagenmanufaktur Altenburg GmbH. The first sports car was developed with the assistance of Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences and the Technical University of Munich. In October 2005, the Apollo car was manufactured on full-scale and different variants of the car were sold around the world.
