The company was a result of two merged companies; Hudson Motor Car Company and Nash-Kelvinator Corporation. This merger was considered the biggest merger in the history of the country (USA).

Its headquarters was in Michigan. The company had a competition with Chrysler, General Motors, and Ford. The merger of the company was done by Nash-Kelvinator Corporation who acquired Hudson Motor Car Company.

American Motors launched a car named AMC Eagle which was the world’s first compact SUV having off-roading features while giving the passengers complete comfort at the same time.
