Alfa Romeo: Logo Meaning, Evolution, SVG, PNG and Company Overview

1915

This is the time when the company was renamed to Alfa Romeo. The logo stays the same but has brighter colors. The second difference is the addition of a white dash and a word “Romeo”.

1912

This is the second logo of Alfa. The logo has the similarities like the 1910 Alfa logo. This logo has dull colors. The words are designed using customized Calibri Body Bold font type.

1910

This is the first logo of Alfa. It was designed by Romano Cattaneo and Giuseppe Meros. The logo is a 3 nested circle. The first circle is golden, followed by a thick blue layer; the top part has the name of the company “Alfa” and the bottom part has the name of the city “Milano”. On the left and right sides of this layer are two knotted ropes. These two elements and words are designed in golden. The words are all capitalized and use a customized Times New Roman font. The last layer is divided into 2 parts using a vertical golden line. The left part is white having a red cross and the right part is light blue having a serpent facing left and eating a human. The serpent also wears a crown.

The red cross symbolizes the Milan flag. The serpent is called the Biscione which means “grass eating snake”. The snake is seeing eating a human which is a concept of rebirth and transformation. This is the sign of Visconti family which had a lot to do with the development or Milan including cultural patronage, military expansion, economic prosperity, and architectural projects resulting in founding of Milan. The knotted ropes mean maritime, connection, safety, and security.

1870

This is the logo when the company was named as Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili. The logo is a headstone shape in black with color fill. The four corners inside the shape have black patches linking with the border. The name of the company is designed in white inside a black color filled circle. The letters are capitalized and are designed using a customized font type. There are randomly designed black lines and elements on all sides of the circle and there are two flowers on each side. Below the circle is the name of the company designed in black with using a customized Calibri Body Bold font type.

There is a customized black underline below the words Lombarda Fabbrica and on left end of the underline is a word “TIPO” and on its right end is “N^o”. Below these two words are two black color filled rectangles and between them is the name of the founding city “Milano”. All of these words are designed in black, all capitalized and using customized Calibri Body Bold font type. The word “Tipo” means Type and “N^o” could mean Number.

Company Overview

Alfa Romeo Automobiles S.p.A is a luxury car manufacturing company based in Italy. It was founded by Ugo Stella and Nicola Romeo in 1910. The company’s headquarters is in Turin, Italy and its CEO is Jean-Philippe Imparato. The company’s cars have been into racing since 1911 and now it is a part of Stellantis.

The first factory of Alfa started in 1906 which belonged to SAID (Società Anonima Italiana Darracq) by Alexandre Darracq which was a French automobile company – this company also had a couple of investors. Ugo became the Chairman of SAID in 1909, Ugo was a known aristocrat from Milan.

The Darracq company started selling cars in 1909 but was unable to bring finances in the same year and this is when Ugo and some investors thought of launching Alfa. After the WWI, the company stopped its production for 3 years and the company got its new CEO in 1915; Nicola Romeo. After continuous success, the company was failing to exceed sales since 2010 and in 2021, the company was acquired by Stellantis.
